My Very Own
October 18, 2009
Today we tasted the first beer that I brewed all by myself. I wanted to make a California style Ale – something that we miss a lot living in Germany. And boy-oh-boy, is it delicious! Too bad there are only three liters of it.

Only water, yeast, barley and hops (well, hop pellets).
Look at it go!
Hmmm, poisonous witches soup or delicious beer?
After bottling.
Joy!

Whoa! It’s so clear. How did you do that? Mine is always cloudy. Nevertheless, you’ve inspired me. Tomorrow, I’m going to see the Buddha-man (so named because of his size and he’s always sitting) at the beer supply store for the fixin’s.
I put in some re-hydrated Irish Moss at the very end of the boil to clear it up. Also, a good hot break and cold break – since this was only a three liter batch I could put the whole pot with the lid on in the sink and keep the cold water running a little. Oh, and Nottingham Dry Ale Yeast.
Let us know how your beer turns out!
