Am Neuen See

Am Neuen See

Along the canal at dusk we rode, zoo-musk on the breeze. We spotted strings of hanging lights beyond a thicket of trees. And it was there we found the biergarten around the Neuen See.

Centered

Chilly and Content

How did we let the summer pass without visiting Tiergarten’s best biergarten? Rows of benches sit beneath a high canopy of sycamores. A deck overlooks the still lake. There is a golden watt for every shaking leaf, and the Hacker-Pschorr helles shines as well.

Or So I Think

Or So I Think

Now the season is late, so the hours are early. Last call was called at just eight o’ clock. We bought what we could and sat for a while, then strolled by the zookeeper’s house.

What an extraordinary photo! This makes my heart hurt for wanting to get there.

This must be the tiergarten where they keep the steppenwolves, loping in the autumn dark past the lighted windows, the doors they will never enter. Biers for Tiers, my dears.
