Go Vote Today! (if you’re German)

Today is the Bundestagswahl in Germany. The system is a bit more complicated than a US presidential election with over 20 parties , a first vote which designates who your local representative, and a second vote which determines how much power a given party has in the Bundestag. Also, you don’t have to vote within a party.

Wahl-O-Mat

By answering some questions about the issues at stake, this Wahl-O-Mat (“Electionerator” – my own translation) from the Bundeszentrale für politische Bildung tells you which party best represents your views.  Apparently, a fairly liberal American answering these questions fits the bill for Germany’s most conservative mainstream party.

Even if you’re not German, you can still find out your hypothetical affiliation here (in English). Maybe it will be the Violettes (for spiritual Politics) or the Pirate Party? Give it a try!
